Ranger Betrayal, chapter 6, by Swegi Gonbup, Gonbup Production©2023

Chapter 6: Bang

Ranger's heart raced as he walked through the door of his home, ready to confront Trish about what he had seen at the mall. He found her sitting on the couch, her face lighting up as she saw him.  "Ranger, you're home early," Trish said with a smile. "What's up, homie?", she added.  Ranger's guilt weighed heavily on him, and he couldn't bring himself to meet her gaze. He took a deep breath and finally spoke up.  "Trish, we need to talk," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.  Trish's smile faded as she noticed the seriousness in Ranger's tone.

Trish stood up, concern etched on her face.    "What's wrong, Ranger?" she asked, her eyes searching his face for answers.  Ranger took a moment to gather his thoughts before he spoke again.  "I saw you at the mall today, Trish," he said, his voice shaking. "You were flirting with another man."  Trish's eyes widened in shock, and she took a step back.  "I... I can explain," she stammered, looking visibly flustered.  But Ranger had already made up his mind. He couldn't bear the thought of Trish betraying him just as he had betrayed her. He shook his head, tears welling up in his eyes.  "It's over, Trish," he said, his voice filled with pain. "I can't do this anymore. We're done."  Trish's face crumpled, and she reached out a hand towards Ranger, but he stepped back, unable to bear her touch. He turned and walked out of the house, leaving Trish standing there, devastated.

Ranger's heart was heavy with guilt as he drove to Sandy's place, desperate for some solace. As he traced the walkway to her house, he was met with a sight that made his heart drop.  Sandy's brother, a Brazilian mobster, was waiting for him outside her house, his face contorted with rage. Before Ranger could react, the mobster drew his pistol and fired, hitting Ranger in the chest.  Ranger stumbled back, clutching his chest, blood pouring from the wound. He fell to the ground, his vision fading. As he lay there, gasping for breath, he realized the consequences of his actions were catching up to him.  Sandy rushed out of the house, screaming in horror as she saw Ranger lying on the ground, bleeding profusely. She knelt down beside him, cradling his head in her lap, tears streaming down her face.  "Ranger, no!" she cried, her voice filled with anguish. "Não morra, por favor, não...!"  Ranger knew his time was running out. He looked up at Sandy, his vision blurring, and reached out a weak hand towards her.  "I'm sorry, Sandy," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "I messed up... I betrayed everyone..."  Sandy's sobs grew louder as she held onto Ranger, but it was too late. Ranger's eyes closed, and he slipped into unconsciousness.

When Ranger woke up, he found himself in a hospital bed, surrounded by beeping machines and concerned faces. Trish was there, her eyes red from crying, and she reached out a hand towards him.  "I'm so sorry, Ranger," she choked out, tears streaming down her face. "I didn't mean to hurt you..."  Ranger looked at her, his heart heavy with regret. He realized that his actions had consequences, and he had hurt not just Trish, but also Sandy and himself.  "I messed up, Trish," he whispered, his voice filled with remorse. "I cheated...betrayed you."
